MI Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC) Pre-Deployment Practice Test

Movement and Maneuver WFF tasks center on shaping the battlespace through how you move, position, and apply force to accomplish the mission. The listed activities—moving and maneuvering forces, employing direct fires in support of movement, occupying an area to establish a base or deny the enemy, conducting mobility and counter-mobility to control routes and obstacles, conducting reconnaissance and surveillance to gain tempo and information for decisions, and using battlefield obscuration to conceal movement or disrupt enemy observation—all serve the purpose of gaining position, protecting that position as you advance, and shaping the enemy’s options. They are tools that enable maneuver and tempo, rather than focusing solely on firing, protection, or sustainment in isolation.
